Work description

JOTARO SAITO is a Kyoto-based kimono designer who continues to advocate a "Japanese lifestyle". Mr. SHOWKO, also in Kyoto, continues to pursue the possibilities of pottery and continues to be active in various fields. The two talents met and collaborated to create a completely new piece of work that has never been seen before while continuing the tradition. That is the "Aura" series.

Aura means "wind" in Latin, and the three works announced this time - Rock glass, Flower cube, and Board plate - are based on the theme of Polaris, which has always been a source of support for people, and each one has a refreshing feel that feels like it is blowing through the wind. Like a new breeze, it brings an accent to your lifestyle.

Aura's Rock glass turns your home into a stylish bar when you pour alcohol into it. If you brew tea, you'll feel like you're at a tea shop in Kyoto. This glass can be used in many ways, creating a wonderful time of rest in any situation.

The striped buttons, which are synonymous with JOTARO, are elegantly and dynamically drawn on the white porcelain surface in gold. SHOWKO's specialty "white mori" technique brings out the scenery of the pot from any direction. You can enjoy it. The accented red/gray notches at the bottom have an unusual shape, but as the fingers rest on these notches, it is very easy to hold and easy to use in daily life.

Rock glass is a fusion of the sensibilities of top-class creators, with the beautiful original patterns used in JOTARO's "kimono" made into three-dimensional form from the perspective of SHOWKO's ceramic maker. By arranging or combining them with works from other Aura series, you can enjoy creating more space. What kind of scene do you go through?
