Work description

JOTARO SAITO is a Kyoto-based kimono designer who continues to advocate a "Japanese lifestyle". Mr. SHOWKO, also in Kyoto, continues to pursue the possibilities of pottery and continues to be active in various fields. When two talents meet and collaborate, a completely new piece of work has been born, one that has never been seen before, while still continuing the tradition. That is the "Aura" series.

Aura means "wind" in Latin, and the three works announced this time - Board plate, Rock glass, and Flower cube - are based on the theme of Polaris, which has always been a source of support for people, and each one has a refreshing feel that feels like it is blowing through the wind. Like a new breeze, it will add an accent to your lifestyle.

Aura's board plates come in two types, one with the moon and the other with the star (Cassiopeia), and can be enjoyed individually or as a pair. The flat shape makes it look great when placing sweets for tea or drinks, and it is also an interesting plate to place dishes, appetizers, sushi, etc. In addition, Board plate, which has the properties of both product and art, can be used not only as tableware, but also as a wall hanging as an art ceramic plate, so it will decorate your space in a variety of ways.

In terms of design, the striped buttons that are synonymous with JOTARO are elegantly and dynamically drawn in gold on the white ceramic surface, and the unique design is highlighted by SHOWKO's specialty "white mori" technique. . Furthermore, the difference between moon and stars is that the moon and stars are depicted as if they are gently watching over you as an accent. There is also a mechanism that makes the striped peonies bloom when two plates are placed side by side, and you can have fun with the combinations of how you arrange the plates.

The beautiful original patterns used in JOTARO's "kimono" have been transformed into three-dimensional objects from the perspective of SHOWKO's ceramic maker, and the Board plate Moon/Star is a fusion of the sensibilities of top-class creators. By arranging or combining them with works from other Aura series, you can enjoy creating more space. What kind of scene do you go through?

*Board plate moon and board plate star can also be purchased separately. Please select "Moon" or "Star" from "Style" above the "Add to Cart" button.

*The deadline for online pre-orders is Sunday, June 30, 2024. If you apply by this date, your order will be delivered to your home by around September 2024.
