[Shinagawa store February event] Edo Kiriko/Satsuma Kiriko competition exhibition
Thank you for your continued patronage of Seikado.
We would like to inform you that this February, the Shinagawa Prince Hotel store will be holding the ``Edo Kiriko/Satsuma Kiriko Competition Exhibition'', which will collect masterpieces of Edo Kiriko and Satsuma Kiriko.
Edo Kiriko and Satsuma Kiriko are traditional glass crafts representing Japan, but the biggest difference between them is the thickness of the glass. Edo Kiriko is often thin and has a light color, giving it a light impression. In addition, the cuts made on the surface of the glass are gorgeous and delicate, and it is a beautiful craft that combines the shine of European glass crafts with Japanese patterns.
Satsuma Kiriko, on the other hand, is characterized by its profound feeling created by using thick glass, and its ``bakashi'' (shading) that gives a sense of deep color and depth that cannot be expressed with Edo Kiriko. By using the thickness to divide the depth of the cut, it is possible to create complex expressions, resulting in a luxurious finish.
Edo Kiriko and Satsuma Kiriko each have different charms, but each workshop has evolved in their own way. Why not take this opportunity to find the glass of your choice when all the wonderful Kiriko pieces come together?
At the same time, we also sell glass works such as Takaoka Lacquerware's ``Raden Glass''. Please take a look and enjoy its jewel-like beauty.
